Chapter 4 - A short history by Kingdark

Notes:

I was surprised that many seem to like this attempt. It encourages me greatly to attempt and continue this. Don't expect updates in short amount of times though. In fact, I can't tell you how many times I can update. Look at my other stories and you'll see what I mean.

I mentioned there were dozens of eggs. I never mentioned an exact number. So below is a reminder of the identity of my characters and how many of them there are.

Rex: 1 T-Rex (Royalty, king, prince of the rest)

Rex is a tyrannosaurus Rex. T-rex for short. I'm sure that if you watched Jurassic park you will know what scary bastard it is. Rex will be an adult after seven years. The older she gets, the bigger she can become. Being an adult has nothing to do with it, and a T-rex can grow VERY quickly. If Rex is four years she can choose to stay as small as a puppy or grow as large as a horse. Her choice. Rex doesn't need a male partner to produce and hatch eggs. Rex is considered royalty and the other dinosaurs do as she tells them to. Not only because she has the respect, but because she can swallow them whole if they displease her. She doesn't need a partner to continue her race. So she is the ONLY one for now and considered royalty for the others. It will take roughly seven years before Rex is an adult. Just to make it clear, Rex can keep growing even AFTER she becomes an adult.

Raptor: 13 Velociraptors (elite body guards of Rex and deadly hunters, royal guards...)

There were twelve Raptor eggs with the eggs in stasis. Raptor is the Alpha of the bunch and his law goes. Velociraptor reproduce very quickly because they are adults after four years.

Diego: Saber tooth tiger: 13 Saber Tooth tigers. (trackers, hunters and soldiers.)

I don't know if I was clear with this but he's a saber tooth tiger. Those guys are powerful hunters and very scary looking as well. Diego is the alpha of a pack of twelve.

About character bashing:

I, like anyone else have characters that I don't like. You can put Ron in a bad light, Hermione, Dumbledore, Snape, Sirius, Remus and so many others. You can put them all in a good light and in a bad light. I'm going to try and do this the realistic way. I would say that Remus would respect the headmaster but nothing more than that. I'll give a detailed example at the bottom of this chapter to explain better what I mean.

!STORY BEGINS BELOW!

Harry hadn't slept that well for as long as he could remember. Not only was Max a very interesting person he was very knowledgeable as well. Not to mention the fact he could shift himself to look his own age.

"Don't worry Harry. I've got plenty of money. I'm only doing this for my own amusement. Besides I've got several people I know that can take care of the shop that I trust completely." Max told Harry. "Besides, I'm not letting an interesting fellow like yourself out of my sight." He had grinned wisely at that.

"Fine then." Harry agreed.

"So tell me what I have to pay you so I can finish my shopping list." Harry reminded max.

Max counted the prices up and ten minutes later Harry had paid what he owed. "Don't worry about it Harry." Max said with a smirk.

"Like I said." He continued. " I'm not doing this because I need the money. It's more something to amuse myself with than anything else." He explained.

"I know." Harry grumbled. "You shouldn't sell it so cheaply though."

Max blinked. "I didn't. The stuff you bought is fairly expensive."

Harry blinked. 'You're not kidding?'

Max glared at his new friend. "I'm not." He said shortly.

"Huh." Harry muttered. "Than that means I'm better off than I thought."

"You got to see your trust vault I take it?" Max questioned.

Harry frowned. 'Trust vault?'

"You don't know?" Max asked. "Wait. Don't bother answering that. The Potters are fairly odd family. One of the founding families of the ministry among others. The vault you've seen should've been the vault that was kept aside for Hogwarts and expenses such as toys and whatever the child wanted. Of course, there is usually a parent to make sure the child doesn't waste too much off it. A lot of money or not, there is no sense in wasting money." Max continued.

"In fact, you should have been taught to use your money... Have you been taught?"

Harry shook his head. "No I wasn't. I only found out that I'm magical a few weeks ago when I received my letter. And I thought then it was a well thought of joke."

'Huh.' Max said. "That is unexpected. You've gotten all your supplies than?"

"Everything except a wand." Harry agreed.

"Then I suggest you go to Ollivanders to get your public wand and then return here so you can buy a wand for private use."

Harry blinked in surprise. "Why would I need a private wand on top of that of this Ollivanders place? I never had any problems in the past." Harry added more to himself than to Max.

Max looked at Harry oddly. "Are you telling me you've been doing magic before now?"

Harry looked at the older man. He had shifted back to his adult form until they could go to school. "Sure. Why not?" He returned sarcastically.

Max shrugged again. "Hey, don't mind me. I would say good work but I wouldn't mention that to anyone you don't trust. Especially ministry flunkies and red haired childeren."

Harry decided to put that bit away for later use.

"Are you joining me or..." Harry trailed off.

"Hold up a moment and let me lock my store up. I don't want to come back to a ransacked building. Well of or not, I don't want to restart the whole thing again." Max told Harry.

A few moments later Max was done and both were standing outside. "I'm remaining in my adult form for now. In the meanwhile I'm going to arrange for my 'grandson' to be registered at Hogwarts." Max told Harry.

Harry didn't bother to respond. After all what could say?

Harry had a vague idea where this wand store was. After a few moments he spotted the store. It was hard to miss. The store window was fairly big. In the window were several pictures with wands of famous wizards that Ollivanders had sold. An information paper on the side informed the reader that once the wizard died, the wand was salvaged once the magical signature was removed.

Harry entered the store and was immediately assaulted by the raw magic that was in the store. It was like walking into a room that was completely sound proof, but inside that room there were hundreds of loud engines roaring.

Not a pleasant experience obviously.

Harry shook his head several times to try and adjust to the difference. Loki had sensed what was wrong but was helpless to stop it. He was attempting to convince Harry to leave the store but Harry was rooted in the same spot. To make things worse the owner appeared and was nagging to Harry, asking questions about this and that.

If Harry wasn't in such pain Loki would have laughed at the situation. Harry was in pain because of the magical 'noise' but was still answering the pointless questions that this guy was asking. Max had somehow been separated from them. Loki wasn't sure when that had happened though. One moment he was with them and the next he was gone.

Harry on the other had was working on automatic. He was doing his very best to lock his senses out, or at the very least decrease the noise to a more decent level. His instincts were screaming at him that he needed the focus so the magic would go through that and not through HIM.

So he did what he thought was the most logical thing.

'Accio My wand!'

Now normally a wand has to be bonded to a wizard first. It is for that reason that a wand works the best for its chosen master. At some very basic level the wands are alive. So when they sensed that a wizard was in pain and needed its partner they allowed the summoning magic to call the right focus to him. Ollivander was way to surprised to react as a wand appeared from the back somewhere.

Harry caught the wand when it was close enough and felt more powerful than he ever remembered feeling. Before his power was raw, ready to obey his commands but at the same time it was a partnership. Now?...

His power felt focused. Like he could use a basic Reducto curse and chose to shatter it, or blast it into dust... Literally! Part of him knew purely by instinct that some of 'his' spells would not work if he tried it with his wand. Or rather they would work but it ran the risk of burning the wand out.

Aside from the fact that his magic felt focused, the background noise was greatly reduced... But not completely gone. That meant that he needed a second focus for his magic to be filtered through. So Harry repeated the command from earlier. This time he could put it in better words: 'Accio second focus to balance my magic out completely!' Backing this command up where feelings and images to direct his magic what he wanted. It just backed the point up his minions had made earlier. Intent, Willpower and the Power to make the spell work.

Just like earlier, magic responded to his call for aid. Somewhere at the back of the store there was a room that was labeled: 'unstable prototypes'. The room was completely sealed and couldn't be breached unless the magic allowed it. Ollivander had designed the wards himself and nothing could pass through those defenses if magic didn't allow it. When a necklace and a ring appeared before Harry and Ollivander they were both very surprised. Ollivander more so than his customer. It was a general rule that if you bonded with a wand you had to buy it.

It was a magical variant from the well known: 'break it, buy it.' you saw in many shops and stores.

Harry stretched his hands out and the ring floated onto his left non wand hand. The noise was reduced until the background noise was reduced to that of a loud engine running. The necklace opened itself and moved itself over his neck. Once there it locked shut and the annoying noise was finally reduced to a gentle noise in the background.

"I feel..." Harry began. He held out his hand and focused his magic to create a ball of magic, like you saw in so many cartoons. He imagined a mix of electricity and power going over his hand, but because it was HIS power it didn't hurt him.

His magic responded to his intent immediately and MUCH easier than it ever had in the past. Even with Loki providing internal focus.

Ollivander watched Harry with wide eyes. There was a problem. Those prototypes were a personal project of his and weren't supposed to be sold. In fact he didn't have a clue how much he should ask for them. And for the young wizard to need no less than Three focuses was astonishing to say the least!

'Powerful and in control.' Harry finished. "It's like having had a headache for as long as I can remember and finally getting some peace and quiet." He finished. Harry was quiet for several moments before his mind kicked itself into gear and caught up with his mouth.

"Right then. What do I owe you sir?" Harry asked politely.

Ollivander continued to stare at the younger boy. He had expected the boy to choose a different wand, or should that be that the wand would choose this wizard? The wand he had chosen had only 'just' lost the previous owner signature. And what an owner it had been!

The dark lord from the second world war had needed nearly fifty years to loose the magical signature of its owner. That not only spoke of a close control of the wand itself but it also meant that the owner had been incredibly powerful.

Ollivander shrugged. "Everything together comes to two hundred galleons. Very expensive seeing that the average wand cost barely twenty galleons. But then the child had three different focuses in total. One wand plus the prototypes. Ollivander felt he had the right to ask for more because of that.

'Sure.' Harry agreed. He counted out the money from his bottomless bag and prepared to leave.

Harry put the wand on his wrist, and Loki did the rest. The wand did not only become invisible to the naked eye, it would be nearly impossible to remove from him without his permission. Harry left the store ignoring the thoughtful look of Ollivander.

Max finally caught up with Harry. He guided him back to his store. He had some serious explaining to do.

"I'm sorry buddy." Max began. "But I'm not that popular and the ministry flunkies will take any excuse to get me into the ministry. I have no intention of letting those morons poking me though."

When Max noted Harry's stare, he explained. "There is a department that is known as the 'Department Of Mysteries.' It is the place where they experiment on new species to examine them and make sure they aren't dangerous to witches or wizards..."

"And if they are?" Harry asked slowly.

Max shook his head slowly. "They are hunted to the point of extinction." Max explained sadly.

'!'

"B-but that wouldn't be right!" Harry protested.

"I fully agree but you, but witches and wizards are humans as well. And just like them they fear that which they don't understand."

It was at that moment that Harry decided he would make sure it would stop.

"Loki..."

"Harry?"The cat questioned.

"Is there a way for me to prevent something like that from happening?"

"I don't know sir." The cat admitted. "It depends on what you wish to do. If you wish to stop it by force, people will get hurt or perhaps they might even die... If you take control of the British magical government by force you can stop it from happening..."

"Harry" Max called. "Don't be foolish."

When Max noted that he had Harry's attention. "You're just a kid. You don't have the resources to prevent it from happening. Besides, this isn't the only place they do it. Every magical nation has a similar department." I don't want you to get hurt even though I have only known you for a short time."

Harry glared at Max. "Evil can only win if good men do nothing. That means if we ignore it we are unwilling accomplishes. I have no intention in letting that happen. Besides... If there has been a king emperor in the past... It can happen now as well." Harry grinned at his Max. "You don't know what I can do. Or what I can't do." He paused. "But I could always use a man that isn't afraid to tell me off." Harry offered.

It was then that Harry remembered what Max said.

"I'm sorry buddy." Max began. "But I'm not that popular and the ministry flunkies will take any excuse to get me into the ministry. I have no intention of letting those morons poking me though."

"Does that mean the ministry considers you dangerous to witches and wizards?" Harry asked curiously.

Max looked at the younger boy carefully, trying to see if he was worth telling the whole story.

"Fine then." He sighed. "It's a pretty long story and part of it I already told you."

'I've got plenty of time.' Harry pointed out. "The train only leaves in five days and I got all the supplies I need. My relatives don't care what I do."

"Make yourself comfortable because It will take a while for me to tell the story. And try not to interrupt me. I hate it when people interrupt me when I'm telling a story. Every question you might have will be answered by the end of it." Max warned.

Harry simply waited for Max to begin his story.

*Story begins*

This story is told from the magical point of view. It has some major differences to the muggle histories.

When the muggle roman empire was at its mightiest point, the magical people thrived as well. They weren't bound by bodies of water or the barrier of storms or long trips over the seas. America was long since discovered ever before the first muggle set foot there. This is important to know for later in the story.

By the time the roman empire was at its highest and most powerful point, the magical people had divided themselves into two factions as well. Both were fighting to rule the magical people as one, to lead them in a golden era and perhaps to have one continent for themselves where magical people alone would rule. Where only the worthy non magical people would be allowed.

One empire was what is now modern American. The other consists of the entire European continent plus Russia. Both factions were divided by the Atlantic ocean so neither could invade the other. Neither empire had the manpower to raise an army for an actual invasion. That didn't man there weren't any skirmishes though. Small units were send into enemy territory to spy, sabotage and to try and convince public opinion for either side.

Aside from these two major factions were several others that were considered neutral. None of these countries would stand a change from a military point of view so they were mostly ignored and used as unofficial bases of operations.

Both factions had been in this diplomatic state for decades and the people were beginning to get tired of it. There hadn't been any battles. There hadn't been any major victories. The entire status was in a situation where neither could force an advantage over the other. Diplomatic relations were reopened to try and figure something out. Both factions were loosing influence over their lands and that was something they wanted to avoid so eventually a contest was agreed upon.

Anyone could join the contest for the price was becoming the ruler of the entire magical kingdom. To avoid cheating magical oaths were sworn by every participant and dozens of different tasks were agreed upon. The jury members were sworn into neutrality as well, backed up by magical oaths. If they broke this oath, they would die violently backed up by 'oath breaker' in magical tattoos on their corpses.

Like I mentioned earlier, the contest would test the people on magical knowledge, magical strength, muscle strength, knowledge of tactics of war. Everything and anything that a good leader would need was tested, again and again. Eventually when the participants were reduced to only three of each side new oaths were sworn that these people were allowed tutoring to help them in their weak area's. No human could be perfect after all.

To prepare these contestants a pause of one year was allowed. Both sides would tutor their own people in as many things as possible for the last test would be very dangerous.

The next task wiped out two of each team meaning that only one person of each team was left. It was decided that after a resting period of one month they would duel each other until only one was left standing. The victor would decide the fate of the other.

But during the contest in the last years both men had grown to like each other. They had started from extreme dislike into something of a brotherly rivalry. Neither wanted the death of the other, but that result was nearly certain. Neither knew how they could fix this so they just agreed to do their best and let their actions do the rest.

Both men fought each other for hours, using magic, sword play, tricks and mental warfare. Finally the man from Europe remained conscious long enough for all parties to agree that he was the winner.

The man that would become the king emperor was a kind man. He would do anything that was needed to keep the peace in his lands. The other man would be his most trusted advisors for years. But that was the problem. Even though the empire was considered only one faction, there were still a lot of people that would follow either the king or the advisor. The empire was split into two even though this wasn't noticeable for many years.

The names of both men isn't something I wish to remember but since I'll have mention them eventually I will say it only once. Not because I fear the names, but because of what they did to me and the hurt that is still there. Faded from time but still present.

The victor of the contest that came from Europe called himself Cronus. I do not know if that was his real name or not. The other guy called himself Zeus.

Cronus ruled his empire peacefully for many years until something happened that split them apart. That underlined who the ruler was and who was the subject. They had mostly enjoyed a bond of equality but whatever happened between the two of them ended this bond and started a mild dislike between both.

The friendship between both men began to falter and weaken. Zeus kept to himself, raising muggle armies to counter the muggle Egyptian and Greek threats. This army was a mix of both magical soldiers and muggle soldiers that was loyal to general Zeus first and to emperor Cronus second. If Cronus had been loyal to Zeus that wouldn't have been a problem. But because Zeus had begun to dislike and hate the emperor this would cause a major problem. Slowly Zeus gained control of all armies except the royal elite guard.

Even though Zeus had control of most armies available Cronus was still very popular. And a hostile takeover wouldn't be accepted so easily. So Zeus countered this by spreading lies about Cronus and finding other powerful wizards and witches that answered to him alone. With these witches and wizards at his command plus a great deal of the army of the empire Zeus declared war against Cronus. To battle it out once and for all. To let there be no doubt who the mightiest ruler was between the two of them.

Cronus responded to this threat swiftly. Securing his cities and gathering what forces were loyal to him. Cronus was vastly outnumbered and outgunned in nearly every aspect. Zeus had superior numbers, a superior position, powerful mages at his command and several artifacts that he had borrowed.

That is where I and my brothers and sisters enter the story. At this point in magical history, they still worshiped Gaia. Gaia was considered the source of our power. She represented the earth itself. Gaia represented the force of nature.

So to honor her, Zeus and Cronus created me and my brothers and sisters in honor of the deity we worshiped. We were designed to function forever and to be utilized in nearly every position. My brothers and sisters were named the Titans. The parents of the Greek gods that the muggles worshiped in Greek.

And I? I was the strongest of all of us. I do not know if Gaia helped with my creation, or if it was a freak accident, but I was powerful enough that I was capable of doing ANYTHING I wished. Magic responded to my smallest desire. I was loyal to Cronus alone. He was my father, my best friend and my main creator.

The others... All of them felt divided over the matter and tried to keep out of the conflict and were eventually wiped out. The few survivors created magical defenses powerful enough to keep even the strongest armies out.

There a snag though that none of us had thought of. The people. The people had gotten used to the peace. To not having to worry about sons, brothers and fathers that were enlisted in the royal army. While Cronus and Zeus were battling it out, power slipped from the governors in other parts of the world. Conquered land after conquered land declared their independence and because of the fact that ninety percent of the empire army was busy killing each other, the governors were powerless to stop it from happening.

When the dust settled, both armies were extremely bloodied and once again history repeated itself. Neither party could out battle the other, and not even the dislike of both rulers could send their soldiers against each other once more. That was when messengers from all over the world reached the battlefield to inform the rulers of their new independence. Both rulers were powerless to do anything because their battle had been so bloody. Just like the roman empire the magical empire crumbled into nothing. The former capital was ransacked and the royal palace along with all of its knowledge, riches and magical devices was locked down so tightly that only someone of approved status could find it, let alone enter it.

Only I and a precious few of my brothers and sisters are still alive. And they will only ally themselves to someone worthy if they prove that they will not make the same mistakes again. They acknowledge that no human can possibly be perfect. But they will not accept a ruler that will let the new empire crumble down again as well.

A question that will have most likely occurred to you will be 'why haven't I interfered? Why if I am so powerful Haven't I taken a few soldiers and mages to remind them how powerful I truly was? This is yet another feat of when both men were still the best of friends.

Zeus and Cronus placed seals, limiters and runes upon me and my sisters and brothers. I cannot do anything against the royal line that will harm them. And at that point that was the both of them. I could only make major decisions with the consent of both and by the end that wasn't going to happen.

At the end of the war, they did agree upon a single thing. They weren't immortal and both men were already getting older. They placed a spell upon me and my sisters. A modified seal on top of the previous runes and seals if you will. The only way that I can do something that counts is when I find someone that is worthy. Meaning the hatching of the eggs. To make sure there is no cheating involved, I have to give the candidate a task to be completed. If that wasn't enough the candidate would have to track down and locate any surviving brother and sister to accept a quest as well. All of this would have to be completed before Zeus and Cronus and are revived.

Shortly before their death, they sealed themselves in. Their magic was released into their temples/tombs that when the eggs would hatch, this magic would be used to create new magical bodies for them. Both men would have only one goal: to gather their own armies to battle it out once more...

The only way for this to be prevented is for every magical nation to swear their loyalty to the new King Emperor. That's you Harry.

To round this story off, I now present you with your mission. If you have listened carefully enough you'll already know. Get the entire magical community under your banner. Every. Magical. Faction. Wizard, centaur, giant, goblins and every other race that is intelligent enough to do business with.

Both Zeus and Cronus sealed their remaining armies in their tombs. In a stasis like state.

*End Story *

Harry was staring open mouthed at the magical creature.

"That is such a baddass story!" He cried out.

Max smiled sadly. "I don't think you truly understand Harry. Neither Zeus nor Cronus are what they once were. Both were once honorable youths. They could show mercy and were very easy to get along with. Both have become what they once hated. They will stop at nothing to complete their goals. The magics from the old days is powerful and can do things that you can't imagine now.

The weapons the muggles now deploy will be very useful and you can count on it that they will use them to their own advantage.

"But that's against the secrecy law!" Harry protested.

"I Know." Max agreed. "But they won't care about that. "They only care about their own goals and finally calling themselves King Emperor of the world where they would rule supreme. And that is without taking modern bigotry, prejudice and racism into account."

"This is what I'm allowed to do: I can offer you advice into anything you want. Once you visit my remaining siblings and complete two tasks you will be allowed access to the former capital city that has been sealed off for centuries. The capital city consists of an entire island that has been cut off from the moment it was sealed. It is completely independent from external trade. People there are loyal to the prince that will enter the palace. But remember." Max warned.

"That will only happen if you two tasks at the minimum. And that will only give you limited access to the palace and partial control over the wards."

"Do you truly understand what a ruler is all about? It wouldn't be a democracy because it will be YOUR decision. You will decide who lives and dies on your command alone. Do you understand the seriousness of this Harry?"

Harry stared at Max and began to truly understand how serious this was.

Max continued in his passionate speech.

"People have been independent for centuries now Harry. They will not stand for someone to try and take control! Especially not with the value's from this day and age!" Max finished.

"How long do I have?" Harry asked seriously.

Max shook his head. "I do not really know." He admitted.

"From the moment you were considered worthy -That means from the moment the eggs began to hatch- the magical reservoirs that Zeus and Cronus designed will begun to create their new bodies. These bodies will be newly born infants and will need time to grow up. I estimate that the creation of such magical constructs would take time. So I estimate three years at a minimum. I will know when they are 'born' so don't worry of being caught unaware. Once they are born they will need at least twenty years to gain control over their bodies."

* Notes *

Not much action this chapter, but the 'story' kind of told itself. I only had to reread it once and was satisfied with it with some minor additions and changes. This chapter barely has five thousand words without notes but hey, when I say at least five thousand than I mean five thousand WITHOUT notes. Even its barely over that.

For those history freaks out there (excuse the word) I'm using the excuse that I told this story from a magical point of view. But if any history freak (again excuse the word) is willing to share his or her knowledge with me to make it at least SOMEWHAT correct than feel free to do this.

I accept all reviews as long they contain constructive criticism. If you don't like the story, you either

a) not review

b) tell me what you don't like and perhaps what you would do

c) Criticize the things I did wrong and telling me the right version.

For NOW this remains Harry Potter mostly. I am assuming that by the time of the roman empire the Goa'uld's were either already removed or in different parts of the world. I'm unsure of stargate canon facts so I'm going to research those bits.

Aside from that I hope you enjoyed it. I got only a page of notes left though so don't be expecting a new chapter as quickly as the previous ones.
